Nelson Vargas, the former head of Mexico’s National Commission of Physical Culture and Sports (Conade), has expressed his support for the delivery of scholarships and incentives to members of the national artistic swimming team, following a recent court order. The new director of Conade, Ana Gabriela Guevara, was instructed by an administrative court to continue providing financial support to the athletes, prompting Vargas to state that Guevara is respectful of the law and will likely comply. He also emphasized the importance of avoiding distractions ahead of the upcoming Central American Games, which begin in just 15 days. Vargas encouraged athletes to focus on their performance without worrying about financial issues, and noted that the swimming team has a training camp in El Salvador starting on June 18. Finally, Vargas urged those who wish to support young athletes to donate to a trust fund set up by Banco Azteca.
